A nature exploration app that focuses 100% on the Portland-Vancouver Metro Area?! Oh, yes we did. Did we stop there? Oh, no we didn’t.

With Daycation, you hold in your hand a collection of guided adventures throughout over 3,000 miles of parks, trails, natural areas, and waterways. Whether you want to add to your Big Year bird list over your lunch break or need to get the little ones out of the house for a day of exploring a new part of town, Daycation is your ticket to an easy, breezy, fun time in nature.

But what kind of modern outdoor app would this be without one of the best ways to enjoy nature, by sharing – or more accurately, showing off the awesome adventure you’re on and making your friends jealous (it’s ok, we get you). You can also connect with other Daycationers by posting photos and observations to the Daycation Stream, a social platform baked right into the app. Area naturalists will be strolling along the Stream as well – so by all means, finally ask that weird, socially awkward question about animal poop. It’s what they live for.

Daycation features:
Dozens of Daycations – with more being added all the time – organically grown by all kinds of nature-loving folks, not a cold, faceless Daycation factory.
Waypoint descriptions that share cool facts, points of interest, and insider tips.
An ever-evolving nature story (starring you) on the Daycation Stream, a social platform that lets you add photos and comments to Daycations.
Easy search tools to find the Daycation that’s just right for your timeframe, part of town, and preferred activity (walking, biking, paddling, hammocking – or ‘mocking, as the kids say).
Wildlife and plant tags that give you a sense of what you might see – or take blurry pictures of – while on your Daycation.
Personal profile complete with Daycations you’ve taken, Stream posts you’ve made and liked, and an avatar you’ve made – or selected among our cute and fuzzy Daycation critters (except the salmon – he’s not very fuzzy, but his mom says he’s cute).

BUT THAT’S NOT ALL! Daycations tell the story of how interconnected nature is with the rest of our lives. Many Daycations include other neighborhood waypoints, like great places for food and drink, historic and cultural landmarks, and outdoor events.

Daycations are all about real people sharing their favorite places and how they genuinely like to spend time outside. So if you find yourself inspired enough to create your own Daycation, you can do that at: www.theintertwine.org/daycations/

Daycation is a community effort of the Intertwine Alliance (www.theintertwine.org), a coalition of 140+ engaged in making sure nature, and all of its many benefits, remains a big part of what the Portland-Vancouver Metro Area is all about. Special thanks for the app’s development goes to:
